Last weekend found me in Berlin. I confess that i had really expectations for this trip. I had read and heard tons of positive feedback regarding the German capital. And they all were true! I am amazed by this city and i have already started making plans to revisit. Here are some of the photos i took during my short stay there.

We landed in Tegel airport on Thursday noon. Flight was nice even though it was carried out by a Bulgarian low cost charter company instead of the Olympic Airlines (that we paid). Anyway, captain Alexandrof and his beautiful but not that polite crew got us there. This is what Berlin looks like from above. Everything clean and tidy or “Alles in Ordnung” as the Germans would say.

After some rest we went for a beer, after all we were in Germany :) . I refreshing Crystal Weiss was exactly what i needed. It was accompanied by a really tasty Schweinhaxen.

Next day i was left alone to wonder around the city. I walked something around 10km, from the touristic area of Kurfusterdamm Str. to the famous Zoo and finally i crossed the “borders” into East Berlin and Alexanderplatz. I walked through the biggest city park in the world where people enjoy sports, picnic or just relax during their lunch break, i admired spectacular buildings (especially in the Potsdamer Platz area). I then headed to the Bradenburg Gate and walked down the Unter den Linden Strasse, one of the most beautiful avenues in Europe. Potsdamer platz and the nearby Checkpoint Charlie remind you a not so distant past when the city was divided into 2 sectors. The capitalistic West and the socialistic East side.

Unfortunately, i only stayed there for 2 and a half days. Next time i plan to explore the East side of the city which seems much more interesting. Away from the crowded popular attractions, i will be able to see how “real” Berliners enjoy their city. Lot’s of cultural activities, bars and clubs for every taste everything in prices that seems low compared to Athens.
