Your completely right, I think as individuals the best we can do is travel to and interact with these people in order to gain some kind of insight of the reality on the ground.

Unfortunately the African continent is covered with these kinds of examples, it truly is disheartening. And your right, humans still haven't learned much. At least your taking the time to learn as much as you can, which is more than what 90% of people do.

Hey Ryan,

I appreciate your input on that one, truth is that facts can keep on going and going till we hit rock bottom and hate ourselves for not making any difference to the fact making.
Sudan is just a small example of an easy exploit, a weak country in need of funds in the aftermath of a long lasting, draining civil war. It's also a good example of a country rich in resources where people still don't have the westernized dream philosophy. To me it's just sad that even after 700 years of consequences of slavery, our kind has not learned from the mistakes of the past.

Hey mate,

Thanks for giving me the address. Couple thoughts on your trip so far. Not too surprising everything is "made in china" when you consider China is the main recipient of Sudan's oil! I have heard the same, that people are extremely poor, but extremely friendly. Seems that the less people have, the more willing they are to help others.

Couple fun facts for you (I took a class on Sudan a couple years back):

1. Sudan has 6.6 known barrels of oil.
2. They have 86 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
3. Osama bin Laden used to live and train there.
4. There are over 200 living languages in the Sudan.

Safe travels mate, looking forward to future posts.
