This is the Halkida Concrete plant facility, and some images taken from 6pm to 8 pm. All images were taken in order to be converted to HDR, No special software was used, just Adobe Photoshop CS5 and a Canon 5D MKII.
Seems like there’s a number of ways you can turn images to HDR, there are only very specific things to always keep in mind.
- a) Always use the same F/ stop. Messing with the depth of field will eventually produce rather weird images.
- b) Always shoot at least 3 images with at least 1 1/2 stops gaps.
- c) When post processing, don’t overdo it. The images tend to turn up rather surreal anyway.
- d) Always use a tripod.
- e) Stop your camera down, f:/8 will do it just fine and it will give you the desired depth of field.
- f) Look for multiple sources of lighting, the more the merrier. Different light temperatures add the surreal effect to the image.
Maybe some day we’ll post a step by step guide to HDR using PS CS5, however there is a large number of HDR tutorials online using all kinds of software. That’s why we might post a guide on how to cross process images, instead using the standard HDR process by PS.
Till next time…
