iPhone home button fail
So, the only (so to speak) button of my old iPhone doesn't work. It has happened to many as it seems. And it happened to me too. To my iPhone 2G. The most common cause seems to be humidity, even though my phone was never directly exposed to large amounts (i.e never submerged 
) the warranty seems not to cover it! Getting past this (quite outrageous) fact, I needed to find a way to bypass this problem of not having a home button. So I jailbroke my iPhone and installed SBSettings, a very handy utility that can be found on Icy and Cydia. It is something like a replacement to BossPrefs, for those familiar with that. What makes this utility really handy is the fact that you can launch it just by swiping your finger across the status bar of your phone!
Stop – the iPhone music utility we were missing
If you are an iPhone user and one of those people that enjoy listening to some music when going to bed, I know you'll be glad to hear about Stop.
Stop is an iPhone/iPod utility app that gives us the ability to schedule the music to stop/pause whenever we want. So you won't be wasting any battery nor will you hear the music in the morning when you wake up!
Stop is now on the AppStore and a new version will be submitted soon that will allow the user to choose to have Stop quit automatically when the music is stopped! Let's just hope Apple will approve of such a feature

Today I woke up to a very short but nice email. I paste the contents below:

We are stupid and they know it (series hateblog)
Ever since I got an internet connection, I have avoided watching television and for good and numerous reasons. Not that i still didn't enjoy good movies or series. But now, I could filter the crap they fed me and pick to watch the best! What really annoyed me with TV is that most of the stuff you watch makes you feel like you are retarded. That's mostly why I stopped watching the local shows and turned to the big Hollywood-like productions! Now they make all they money so they of all the world they should have the best script writers! Right? WRONG!
All the latest series and movies out there are irrefutable facts that confirm that writing a script is not something that you should do for a living! You can't pay someone to write and expect to get something good just cause you paid! Writing is an art. And if you don't keep that in mind you end up producing crap, like the ones on which I will briefly take the piss below:
Prison Break (on season 4):
I don't really think anyone needs to say that Prsion Break has become incredibly stupid. If they stopped it when they should, they would have made a great one-seasoner ... and of course much less money!
They way they have stretched the script is not important. What really makes me feel retarded for watching, is what happens in this script. For example on episode 19 (s04e19) they are in a situation where they need to:
- show that Micheal's mom is a genius
- free her from captivity (she has her hands duct-taped together)
She is all alone in fully-furnished and equipped bathroom. So she decides to skip all the scissors one can find in there and use dental floss tied to the door knob to pull the door-stop from the wall! And she didn't even push the door herself! She had Sarah do it, so that she could later rub it in her face. And of course, it's always easier to pull a 2cm screw screwed in there like that, than to chew on the tape or use anything else...
Heroes (on season 3):
I don't know what to say about Heroes. It was different and could be unique. But in 3 seasons only it has managed to make no sense! I especially liked episode 25 (s03e25) where... *SPOILER* a certain hero dies *SPOILER* and of course what better way to have him around than to take the world's most dangerous killer and have him think that he's the hero! Yes it makes sense! And then the hero's mother can have her child back too! Oh I love the happy ending
Here we can see the method that turns a monster into a loving son (that is also by the way a Senator or President)
At this point I would like to thank the writers of Lost that have managed to save the series from a boring couple of seasons and make it great again. I think it's the only watchable piece out there right now. Right?

Αντιγράφω ένα σύντομο άρθρο από το www.skai.gr για την αθλιότητα της κυβέρνησης και της αντιπολίτευσης, που δείχνει την σχέση των κομμάτων με μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης (ή εξημέρωσης κατά τον Πανούση):
Διάταξη η οποία επαναφέρει τη δυνατότητα σε όσους έχουν επιχειρήσεις Τύπου να διαχειρίζονται το 2% του τζίρου τους, χωρίς παραστατικά αναμένεται να φέρει εν κρυπτώ, στη Βουλή, η κυβέρνηση.
Αυτό ανέφεραν στο ΣΚΑΪ ο Στέφανος Μάνος και ο Νίκος Κωνσταντόπουλος.
Οι δύο πολιτικοί έκαναν λόγο για διάταξη της ντροπής η οποία χαρίζει ετησίως "μαύρο χρήμα" περίπου 20 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ σε εκδότες και αποτελεί κραυγαλέο παράδειγμα πελατειακής σχέσης με την διαπλοκή.
Ζήτησαν από τα κόμματα να τοποθετηθούν και να εμποδίσουν την εφαρμογή της σε μία περίοδο μάλιστα ιδιαίτερα σκληρής λιτότητας.

Οι Αστυνομικοί είναι οχυρωμένοι μπροστά από το Αστυνομικό Μέγαρο Πατρών στην οδό Ερμού. Έχουν στήσει οδόφραγμα με κλούβες. Την ίδια στιγμή αντιεξουσιαστές, αριστεροί, φοιτητές και πολίτες είναι οχυρωμένοι μπροστά από το Παράρτημα του Πανεπιστημίου στην οδό Κορίνθου (βλέπε εικόνα), στήνοντας οδοφράγματα με κάδους και θρανία. Δυο ghettos στο κέντρο της πόλης και καμία παράταξη δεν πλησιάζει το άνδρο της άλλης. Εικόνα που θυμίζει σουρεαλιστικά σκηνικά από ταινίες του Carpenter.

Μετά από όσα τρομοκρατικά άκουσα στην τηλεόραση για την Πάτρα κατέβηκα (μετά το τέλος των επισοδείων) στο κέντρο να δω από μόνος μου το μέγεθος της καταστροφής. Ζημιές έχουν υποστεί έλαχιστα καταστήματα. Τη μεγαλύτερη καταστροφή έχουν υποστεί υποκαταστήματα τραπεζών χωρίς όμως να έχουμε τις εικόνες που βλέπουμε στην Αθήνα με ολοκληρωτικά κατεστραμμένα καταστήματα και καμμένα κτήρια.
Οχήματα καθαρισμού του Δήμου και κανα-δυο μπουλντόζες ήδη λειτουργούν ώστε να καθαρίσουν τους δρόμους από πέτρες, τζάμια και υπολείμματα από καμμένους κάδους και σκουπίδια. Η πόλη έχει ήδη αρχίσει να μοιάζει με την Πάτρα που ξέραμε.
